INFOTAINMENT FOR THE PEOPLE OF EARTH SINCE 2006

OCTUPLETS MOM SHOULD BE ASHAMED

OUTRAGE OF THE WEEK

We all thought it was remarkable when we heard a California woman had eight babies earlier this week. She wanted to remain anonymous and now we know why.

Turns out, Nadya Suleman already had six kids. Now, she has a grand total of 14. Oh yeah, she is 33 years old, single and lives with her mother. I'll take, "recipe for disaster," for $200, Alex.

Suleman's mother is speaking out in disapproval. She says her daughter has been obsessed about having kids since she was a teenager. Clearly.

The octuplets were born well in advance and are expected to be in the hospital for a month. Since it was a high-risk pregnancy and they were born premature, the babies will likely have an uphill battle. They could have serious medical issues. So glad that Suleman and her crack team of doctors thought this over.

The question is: who are these doctors who allowed her to have in-vitro fertilization. She already had six kids. Why is there a need to have more? These doctors should be held accountable. Take away their rights to practice medicine.

When Suleman finally brings her army of children back home, how is she going to support them? Oh, that's right, us taxpayers will probably take care of that.

This story is every bit as sad as it is shocking. These kids aren't even going to have a fighting chance because of the situation they're in. And to think, there are so many loving couples who try over and over and over again with fertility drugs and still can't have a baby.

Nadya Suleman, shame on you.

STARBUCKS TO CLOSE 300 STORES; 7,000 LAYOFFS

More bad news for the already struggling Starbucks. The gourmet coffee chain is planning to cut nearly 7,000 jobs and close 300 underperforming stores around the world. 200 of those stores are in the United States. Profits for the company were down by two-thirds in its fiscal first quarter. Starbucks has also reduced the number of stores it plans to open from 200 to 140. All this should save the company about $500 million in saving in fiscal 2009.

SEXY PETA AD BANNED FROM SUPERBOWL

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals apparently went too far with their new ad. It features nearly naked women practically getting it on with vegetables. Even in the hot tub. PETA wanted to air the ad in the Super Bowl, but NBC shot them down because it's too sexy. Judge for yourself...

JIMMY KIMMEL'S VEATRICE DIES

VEATRICE RICE
1949-2009

Very sad news from the Jimmy Kimmel show. Security guard Veatrice has died of cancer. Veatrice made countless appearances on the show in skits. Her straightforward demeanor companied with her foul mouth made for some hilarious moments. Veatrice was always the life of the party. Anyone who's watched Kimmel even once knows that.

Last night, Kimmel got choked up talking about her. "Last night, we lost a co-worker and a very good friend," he said. They paid tribute to Veatrice with a montage of all her best moments. So sad and so unexpected.

TYRA SHOW: "BIZARRE EATING HABITS"

Tyra Banks is going to shocking lengths to get good ratings for her talk show. Today's show was just like old-school Jerry Springer. The guests were women who have shocking eating habits. Shocking and also stomach-turning.

First, there's Kirsten. She's a school teacher who can't stop eating chalk, dirt, baby powder and even Comet. She says she does it in private. Never in front of any of her students. Oh yeah, she's also six months pregnant.

It goes from bad to way worse. Up next, there's Darya. She admitted on national TV that she picks the scabs on the top of her head...and eats them! She says they taste salty. Yum! Darya says she hides her nasty habit from everyone in her life. And shocking, she's single!

It gets better.

Lanieka admits she eats toilet paper. Yes, toilet paper. AND she says she does it while she's going to the bathroom. After she's done answering nature's call, she sits on the toilet eating the TP for 20 more minutes. Lanieka says she's starting to get stomach pain because of her craving for Charmin.

All of their eff-ed up eating habits were caught on camera. Tyra promised to find help for all of them.

2008 IN REVIEW: TELEVISION

BEST OF TV
"ROOKIES" - The A&E documentary-style show followed rookie cops during their first days on the beat. The reality of being a police officer hit home in one episode, when viewers found out a young officer was killed shortly after the taping.

"CELEBRITY REHAB" - Dr. Drew Pinsky puts a punch of drug and alcohol-addicted D-listers into a rehab in California. The result: a show that was every bit as addicting as the pain pills that Jeff Conaway couldn't get off of. Two seasons of the show aired in 2008. It was so successful, that a spin-off called "Sober House" is being planned for Vh1 later this month.

"STRINGERS L.A." - While you're sleeping, stringers are out there, shooting the latest breaking news for TV stations around the country. This Tru TV followed stringers as they raced against the clock, to be the first on scene at some of the biggest stories in Los Angeles.

"OPERATION REPO" - Ride along as street-smart repo men and women do what it takes to repossess cars, jet skis and even ice cream trucks! The confrontations with angry debtors were great television.

WORST OF TV

"HOLE IN THE WALL" - This silly show on FOX featured people in tight suits dodging odd-shaped holes in walls. Unwatchable and dumb.

"PARIS HILTON'S MY NEW BFF" - This MTV "reality" show proved that Paris Hilton was so 2007. A group of worthless woman (and two ultra-feminine gay guys) competed against each other for the socialite's friendship.

"THE HILLS" - This MTV show makes are "worst list" every year. Pointless people doing pointless things. With shows like this, it's no wonder that MTV's ratings were down 25% in the fourth quarter.

"THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW" - It's officially time for the queen of talk to hand over her thrown to someone else. After more than two decades on the air, her show has become a repetitive yawn. The shows deal with Skype means that many guests now appear via the Internet. This looks very lazy. Just fly your guests to Chicago.

"TRIVIAL PURSUIT: AMERICA PLAYS" - This show proves the popular board game should have stayed in the box. The pre-taped questions from viewers bring the pacing of the show to a screeching halt.

CANCELLATIONS
The Montel Williams Show (SYN) - 17 years on the air
Judge Hatchett (SYN) - 8 years
Judge Maria Lopez (SYN) - 2 years
MadTV - (Fox) 14 years
King of the Hill (Fox) - 11 years
