INFOTAINMENT FOR THE PEOPLE OF EARTH SINCE 2006

AMY WINEHOUSE'S PARENTS APPEAR ON NEW ANDERSON COOPER TALK SHOW

Anderson Cooper launched his new daytime talk show today with some big guests: Amy Winehouse's parents. Mitch and Janis Winehouse were still very emotional during the interview. Her father dropped a bombshell claiming that Amy hadn't taken drugs in three years. He cited the toxicology report which said there were no illegal drugs in her system when she died. Mitch said she was struggling with alcohol in her final days. Mitch also claimed that she suffered from seizures and said a seizure may have killed her. Anderson also talked to Amy's stepmother, Jane Winehouse, who said Amy cared about everyone but herself.

NEW SHOWS IN DAYTIME

Many of your favorite daytime shows are returning today. There are also some new shows premiering.

SEPTEMBER 12 DEBUT/RETURNS
Anderson - Anderson Cooper launches his new topical daytime talk show from New York City. Amy Winehouse's parents are his first guests.
The Wendy Williams Show - Wendy returns for her third season.
Judge Joe Brown - new season
Judge Judy - new season
Swift Justice with Jackie Glass - Nancy Grace left his court show after one season to spend more time with her family. Jackie Glass replaces her.

Excused - New dating show where viewers can date people they see on the show. First dating show to be syndicated since Blind Date was canceled.
We the People with Gloria Allred - You may want to watch this show based on the famous judge, but it's all fake. Just like America's Court with Judge Ross, all of the people you see on this show are actors. Why not have real people like all the other court shows? The real problem is these Entertainment Studios fake court shows try to pass themselves on as having real cases. Unless you read the fine print at the end of these shows, you'd think it's real. Not fair to the viewer.
'Til Death - Awful FOX sitcom that no one watched premieres in syndication. No way this will last more than one season.

SEPTEMBER 13 DEBUTS/PREMIERES
Dr. Phil - Dr. Phil starts his 10th year with an interview with Casey Anthony's parents.

SEPTEMBER 19 DEBUTS/PREMIERES
Jerry Springer - new season
Steve Wilkos - new season
Maury - new season
The Jeremy Kyle Show - He's a big name across the pond, now Jeremy Kyle brings his no nonsense show to the USA. If you like Maury, you'll love this show.
The Bill Cunningham Show - The Chicago radio host launches his Maury-like show in select markets.
30 Rock - NBC comedy premieres in syndication

NEW IN DAYTIME: THE VIEW'S NEW SET, REGIS' LAST SEASON

Daytime television is coming back after its summertime slumber. In the coming weeks, your favorite shows are coming back with new episodes and there are also many new shows premiering in daytime.

On Labor Day, the new seasons of The People's Court, Judge Mathis, Judge Alex, Divorce Court, and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire premiered. Divorce Court has a new logo, open and graphics. No changes to the other court shows. Even though she left the Today show, Meredith Viera is staying on as host of Millionaire.

Today, Regis & Kelly and The View were back for new season. Regis & Kelly is counting down to Regis' last day, which he announced will be on Friday, November 18. No replacement has been named for the 80-year-old. The View finally ditched their ugly set for a sparkling new set (above) with a huge projection screen behind the co-hosts. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg was the first guest of the new season. He talked about New York's 9/11 plans and said he has no plans to run for president.

MDA TELETHON RAISES $61.5 MILLION

No Jerry Lewis didn't mean no money for the MDA Telethon. The much scaled down Labor Day tradition raised $61.5 million, more than $2.6 million.

The telethon wasn't the same without the man who hosted for 60 years. The show began with each of the co-hosts saying kind words about Mr. Lewis. Nigel Lythgoe claimed Lewis "retired." Neither Lewis nor the MDA have said why he left the telethon, which was onlt 6 hours this year instead of the traditional 20 hours. There probably wasn't a single person who didn't miss Jerry's annual rendition of "You'll Never Walk Alone" at the end of the show.
