INFOTAINMENT FOR THE PEOPLE OF EARTH SINCE 2006

JOHN EDWARDS KICKED TO THE CURB

He cheated and had another woman's baby. Now, John Edwards is a single man.

A friend of Elizabeth Edwards confirms the couple are separating. Last week, the two-time presidential candidate finally admitted he father a child with a former campaign aide. His daughter is now almost two years old.

Elizabeth Edwards says she wants to put this difficult chapter in her life behind her. As if her cheating hubby isn't bad enough, she is also battling incurable cancer. The couple had also weathered the death of their 16-year-old son.

"It is an extraordinarily sad moment, but I love my children more than anything and still care deeply about Elizabeth," Edwards said in a statement to the Associated Press.

JOHN EDWARDS...YOU ARE THE FATHER!

John Edwards is finally admitting that he fathered a child with this mistress. The former presidential candidate says he had a two-year-old daughter, Frances Quinn Hunter, with former campaign aide Rielle Hunter. The whole time, his wife has been fighting breast cancer.

"It was wrong for me ever to deny she was my daughter and hopefully one day, when she understands, she will forgive me," Edwards said in a statement. "I have been providing financial support for Quinn and have reached an agreement with her mother to continue providing support in the future," he continued.

To think that this guy, who's lied over and over again, could have been our president.

SENATOR TED KENNEDY DIES

It's the end of an era. Massachusetts Senator Edward Kennedy has died. He passed away early this morning in Hyannis Port after battling brain cancer for months. Kennedy was 77 years old.

“We’ve lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism, and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever,’’ Kennedy's family said in a statement.

Kennedy was one of the longest-serving and most influential senators in U.S. history. He was also a strong supporter of healthcare reform, which President Obama is pushing for. Mr. Obama is on vacation in Martha's Vineyard. Today, he took time out to remember his colleague and friend.

"I cherished his confidence and momentous support in my race for the presidency. And even as he waged a valiant struggle with a mortal illness, I've profited as president from his encouragement and wisdom," Mr. Obama said.

Ted Kennedy was the last surviving brother of the Kennedy clan. His sister, Eunice, died about two weeks ago. So far, no word on when a funeral will be held for Kennedy.

CONDOLEEZZA DOESN'T MISS WHITE HOUSE

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice stopped by the Tonight Show last night. Rice and Jay Leno discussed a wide range of topics including her love of golf and the piano. A very interesting interview. Most interesting was the fact that she really doesn't miss the White House. Leno asked her if she missed the job. She responded, "No, I really don't. I am so happy to get up in the morning, read the newspaper, and not think I have to do anything about what's in it."

ILLINOIS GOVERNOR ARRESTED BY THE FEDS

The Governor of Illinois and his Chief of Staff were arrested by the FBI today on charges that they and others were engaged in ongoing criminal activity. Governor Rod Blagojevich is accused of putting up Barack Obama's Senate seat up to the highest bidder. He's also accused of trying to shake down the Tribune Company on its sale of Wrigley Field. The accusations are spelled out in a 76-page affidavit.

"Governor Blagojevich has taken us to new lows. The most appalling conduct ... is that he attempted to sell the Senate seat,'' said U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald in a press conference. "It is conduct that would make [President] Lincoln roll over in his grave."

Federal agents taped the governor's conversations with advisors. In one of them, Blagojevich said he wanted "to make money'' on the Obama senate appointment. "I have got this thing and it's [bleeping] golden," he said on the tape.

SPITZER RESIGNS

Disgraced New York governor Eliot Spitzer has resigned. On Monday, the New York Times reported that Spitzer was linked to a high-priced prostitution ring that was busted last week. He allegedly paid more than $4,000 for one session with a hooker. With his wife by his side again, Spitzer addressed the media this morning.

"To every New Yorker and to all those who believed in what I tried to stand for, I sincerely apologize," he said. "There is much to be done, and I cannot allow for my private failings to disrupt the people's work."

He added: "Over the course of my public life, I have insisted I believe correctly, that people regardless of their position or power, take responsibility for their conduct. I can and will ask no less of myself. For this reason, I am resigning from the office of governor."

Lt. Gov. David Paterson will become the new governor on Monday. He'll be the state's first African American governor. He's also legally blind.

LARRY CRAIG SPEAKS ABOUT THE BATHROOM SEX SCANDAL

Disgraced Senator Larry Craig sat down with Matt Lauer to give his side of the bathroom sex scandal that's almost cost him his career. With his wife by his side and family pictures strategically placed in his family room, Craig carefully responded to the charges. The conservative Republican is accused of solicitating gay sex from an undercover cop at Minneapolis Airport in June. This was a bathroom that was known for anonymous homosexual encounters.

Craig denied trying to arrange a sexual encounter. He said he didn't look into the officer's stall and never tapped his foot to arrange for sex. "I use the bathroom for bathroom's sake," he told Lauer. "This was an officer who was more interested in the arrest than the facts." Craig said the officer was a "profiler" and everything he said during a taped conversation that they had after the arrest was the truth.

Craig waited six weeks until he told his wife about the arrest. Suzanne Craig said she was disappointed that he waited so long to tell her about it. Suzanne admits she asked her husband if she was gay and was comfortable with his answer. "I honestly believe my husband has always been faithful to me in every way," Suzanne said.

Craig said he was hurt by the way his fellow politicians, many whom he considered friends, reacted to the scandal. He said he was particularly hurt by presidential candidate Mitt Romney who dropped him from his campaign.

Despite saying he was going to resign, Craig promised he will finish his term in the Senate. "I won't resign. I will finish out the term," he said. "My dad taught me that when I started a job, to work hard and finish it, no matter how hard it got." Craig's term expires in January 2009.

Rumsfeld Resigns

Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld has stepped down after serving the longest term of any Bush cabinet member. Rumsfeld was part of the administration for six years, despite continued criticism of his handling of the war in Iraq. President Bush has selected former CIA Director Robert Gates to replace him.

Rumsfeld's resignation comes just a day after midterm elections where Democrats won big. They have recaptured the House of the Senate. In Massachusetts, Democrat Deval Patrick grabbed more than half the vote, making him the first African American governor of the state. Patrick is only the second black governor in the history of the United States. Republican and former actor Arnold Schwarzenegger was re-elected as the governor of California and Joe Lieberman will remain a Connecticut senator after running as an independent.

Boston Radio Host Fired

Boston talk radio host John DePetro has been fired from WRKO radio for a comment he made about a gubernatorial candidate. Yesterday, he called Green-Rainbow party candidate Grace Ross a "fat lesbian" on his morning show. Today, he was fired. While Grace Ross does appear overweight and is openly gay, the station says the context and tone of what he said made the statement inappropriate. DePetro says he's "stunned" that he was fired and called Ross to apologize. This wasn't the first time he made a controversial comment about someone's sexuality. In July, he called former Mass Turnpike chairman Matt Amorello a "fag." After that, DePetro was warned that any similar comment would be dealt with in a severe way...and it was.

Military Fires Back At Kerry

Some militarymen are responding to John Kerry's comments with this hilarious picture. The politician angered many when he suggested that U.S. troops are not educated, so these guys fired back with the above banner. Kerry has since apologized for his remarks, saying they were a joke against president Bush gone wrong. However, many are saying it's too little too late for Kerry. This may be the final nail in his campaign 2008 coffin.

Kerry Takes on the Troops

Former presidential candidate John Kerry causing the controversy of the week by insinuating that U.S. troops are not educated. Kerry spoke to a group of student in California yesterday, telling them to get an education or you'll get stuck in Iraq. "You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq," Kerry said. Kerry says his comment was aimed at President Bush and is not apologizing. "I apologize to no one for my criticism of the president and of his broken policy," he later said at a news conference in Seattle.

Of course, the Republicans are furious. President Bush spoke out against Kerry's comments at a rally today. "Our troops did not enlist because they did not study hard in school or do their homework," Bush said. "The men and women who serve in our all-volunteer armed forces are plenty smart and are serving because they are patriots."

Limbaugh: Fox Faked It

Rush Limbaugh is coming under fire for a radio rant where he accused Michael J. Fox of faking the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Fox appeared in a 30-second spot, swaying uncontrollably as he urged Missiouri voters to support stem cell research. While most people would feel bad for the beloved actor, Limbaugh thought it was all a fraud. "In this commercial, he is exaggerating the effects of the disease. He is moving all around and shaking. And it's purely an act," Limbaugh said on his radio show. The Republican blowhard later apologized after listeners told him Fox was not acting.

Tuna, Check. Powdered Milk, Check.

Remember when Homeland Security urged us to stock up on duct tape and cover our windows in case of a chemical attack? Well, here we go again! Over the weekend, Secretary of Health and Human Services Michael Leavitt said Americans should start storing canned tuna and powdered milk under their beds in case of a bird flu outbreak in the United States. Why under the bed? In case other overly paranoid civilians break in to steal your stockpile? The Bush administration. Scaring kids and old ladies. One at the time.
