E.T. IS TIRED AND UNORIGINAL FOR SWEEPS
Tuesday, November 06, 2007
It's November sweeps. One of three months a year where television shows will stop at nothing trying to get the highest ratings possible. While most shows are trying to be as original with their sweeps stunts, Entertainment Tonight and its sister show, The Insider, have fallen flat.
Entertainment Tonight is endlessly plugging a sweeps stunt that has been done a million times before. They are taking two Deal or No Deal models and making them ugly. The girls will wear fat suits and put make-up on their faces to make them look hideous. Then, the show will send them out onto the streets to see how the public treats them. All to show how harsh and cruel the world is to those who are unattractive. Zzzzzz. Doesn't E.T. realize this has been done over and over again?! They've even done this lame experiment before with Vanessa Minnillo. Tyra Banks also did it on her show.
The Insider is no better. Every sweeps, the show turns into the eating disorder spectacular. First, it was the anorexic twins. Now, they're following an Italian model who weighs as much as an infant. Apparently, deadly eating disorders equals big ratings. Not to mention the morbidly obese. The Insider loves a good 1,000-pound man who's trapped in his house story.
It's time for both of these newsrags to stop being so unoriginal and come up with something fresh.
