INFOTAINMENT FOR THE PEOPLE OF EARTH SINCE 2006

DANDA WEST'S DOCTOR WALKS OFF LARRY KING!

Major drama on "Larry King Live" tonight. King was supposed to talk to Jan Adams, the doctor who operated on Kanye West's mother, Danda before she died. But moments before he appeared on the show, West's family threatened to sue if he talked about the case. King began the show with a panel of guests who were talking about the case, then Adams came out. Larry King began asking him about the case. Adams said he wanted to honor the family's request and not talk about it. He then said he didn't want to waste King's airtime, took his earpiece out and walked off the show. The show quickly went to break. After the break, it was back to the panel. Adams looked like a complete jerk. This is going to be all over TV tomorrow.

AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS 2007

The American Music Awards were broadcast live on ABC tonight. Jimmy Kimmel hosted the big event. Here's a look at some of the winners:

BREAKTHOUGHT ARIST - Daughtry
COUNTRY BAND -- Rascal Flatts
SOUL R&B MALE ARTIST: Akon
POP/ROCK MALE: Justin Timberlake
SOUNTRACK ALBUM: High School Musical 2
COUNTRY FEMALE: Carrie Underwood
POP/ROCK ALBUM: Daughtry
RAP/HIP HOP BAND/ DUO/ GROUP: Bone, Thugs and Harmony

SOUL/R&B FEMALE ARTIST: Rihanna

Plenty of decent performances from tonight from Duran Duran, Beyonce, Celine Dion and Chris Brown. Usher was also in the house, getting all serious before presenting an award to Beyonce. He expressed his sorrow over the death of Kanye West's mother. The moment of the night came when one of the Jonas Brothers tripped on stage in front of a crowd of screaming girls. Serves them right for being tools.

ANOTHER COURT SHOW PLANNED FOR 2008

Another court show is joining the already crowded daytime pack. Sony has announced that their new strio, JUDGE KAREN, has already been picked up in 45 percent of the country. The show will feature Florida Judge Karen Mills-Francis and will launch in syndication the 2008-09 fall season. One other court show is already being planned for next season. "FAMILY COURT WITH JUDGE PENNY" will feature an Atlanta judge who'll preside over family cases. It seems the courtroom genre is getting VERY crowded. There are 12 court shows on the air right now: Judge Judy, Judge Joe Brown, Judge Mathis, The People's Court, Divorce Court, Judge Maria Lopez, Cristina's Court, Eye for an Eye, Judge David Young, Judge Hatchett, Judge Alex and Jury Duty. Do we really need two more?

WEEKENDER: WEEK OK NOVEMBER 4-10

DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER SAYS "SORRY"
Dog The Bounty Hunter's A&E show was pulled off the air after his son leaked a phone call between them where Dog used the N-Word six times. This week, a crying Dog appeared on "Hannity & Colmes" and "Larry King Live." Dog said he'll never be forgiven in this life, so he's working to be buried among the slaves so people can see that's he's sorry for eternity. (You can't make this stuff up!)

PRIEST STALKS CONAN O'BRIEN
A Boston priest was arrested after showing up for a taping of The Conan O'Brien Show. Turns out, he's been stalking the host through some bizarre e-mails for months. The priest appeared in a New York court on Friday where he was determined fit to stand trail.

WRITERS STRIKE BRINGS LATENIGHT T.V. TO A STANDSTILL
The Writers Guild of America went on strike to get their fair share of DVD royalties. The strike put all latenight television shows -- Jay Leno, David Letterman, Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Kimmel, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report -- into repeats during the first full week of November sweeps. The networks are scrambling as production for many of their scripted series is coming to a hault. Expect to see more reality shows, as experts predicts this strike could go on for months.

YOU KNOW IT'S SWEEPS WHEN...
The Daily Edition's look at sweeps stunts for the first full week of November sweeps 2007:
  • "Family Guy" celebrates its 100th episode by leaving us hanging with a two-parter.
  • "The Today Show" broadcasts from the Arctic, the equator and Antarctic for the ultimate sweeps stunt.
  • Court shows do theme weeks. This week, "Divorce Court" did a week called "DNA Drama Week," where Judge Lynn Toler did paternity tests like "Maury".

  • "Maury" celebrates 10 years on the air by bringing back some of his most inspirational guests.
  • Montel Williams does a show on a woman who's a school mom by day and a dominatrix at night.
  • "The Insider" trys to get an anorexic Italian woman some help.
  • "Entertainment Tonight" puts two models in fat suits to see how the public reacts to ugly.

PRIEST ARRESTED FOR STALKING CONAN O'BRIEN

A Boston priest has been arrested in New York City for allegedly stalking late-night host Conan O'Brien. Rev. David Ajemian was arrested at 30 Rockefeller Plaze last week while trying to enter a taping of his show. The priest had allegedly been sending O'Brien e-mails and letters since September 2006. He now faces harassment and stalking charges. The Archdiocese of Boston has out the priest on leave.

    DOG CHAPMAN BEGS FOR FORGIVENESS

Dog the Bounty Hunter spoke out tonight for the first time since his racial phone conversation was made public. Sean Hannity scored the exclusive interview on Hannity & Colmes. Dog cried as he apologized for his actions. He admitted that he will probably never be forgiven in this life. Dog also said that he will spend the rest of his life trying to make this right. He also said that he has been avoiding A&E's phone calls and isn't sure if he wants to return to his show. The strangest thing he said is that he now wants to be buried among slaves. He said that'll show that he's sorry for eternity. Dog's pastor, who is African American, also appeared on the show. He said that Dog is not a racist and goes to a mostly minority church.

E.T. IS TIRED AND UNORIGINAL FOR SWEEPS

It's November sweeps. One of three months a year where television shows will stop at nothing trying to get the highest ratings possible. While most shows are trying to be as original with their sweeps stunts, Entertainment Tonight and its sister show, The Insider, have fallen flat.

Entertainment Tonight is endlessly plugging a sweeps stunt that has been done a million times before. They are taking two Deal or No Deal models and making them ugly. The girls will wear fat suits and put make-up on their faces to make them look hideous. Then, the show will send them out onto the streets to see how the public treats them. All to show how harsh and cruel the world is to those who are unattractive. Zzzzzz. Doesn't E.T. realize this has been done over and over again?! They've even done this lame experiment before with Vanessa Minnillo. Tyra Banks also did it on her show.

The Insider is no better. Every sweeps, the show turns into the eating disorder spectacular. First, it was the anorexic twins. Now, they're following an Italian model who weighs as much as an infant. Apparently, deadly eating disorders equals big ratings. Not to mention the morbidly obese. The Insider loves a good 1,000-pound man who's trapped in his house story.

It's time for both of these newsrags to stop being so unoriginal and come up with something fresh.

    ROSIE O'DONNELL: COMING TO MSNBC?

Rosie O'Donnell is in talks to return to television. The New York Times reports that the former daytime queen is negotiating with MSNBC for her own nightly primetime show. O'Donnell left "The View" in the spring after less than a year with the show. O'Donnell may get the cable net's 9 p.m. slot which would put her up against "Larry King Live" and "Hannity and Colmes." An executive familair with the negotiations says it's "far from a done deal," adding that money is one of the main sticking points. So far, MSNBC hasn't commented.

WRITER'S STRIKE = LATE NIGHT REPEATS

The Writers Guild of America is on strike and that means there will be some major changes on television effective immediately. Both CBS late shows, The Late Show with David Letterman and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson will be repeats all week. Shows like these that rely on the days events will be hit hardest by the strike since they rely heavily on their writers. If the strike isn't settled soon, also expect to see even more reality shows in primetime. The strike couldn't have come at a worse time for the networks. It's the first full week of sweeps.

UPDATE: The strike has also shut down The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.

    BOUNTY HUNTER TAPED BY SON!

A lawyer for Dog the Bounty Hunter claims his son taped a private phone converstation between them and then sold it to the tabloids. As The Daily Edition reported yesterday, Dog is heard dropping the N-word six times in the tape, which was leaked to the National Enquirer. Now, Dog's attorney says his son, Tucker, sold it for "a lot of money."

"I guess because of whatever level of anger he had of his father, he felt the need to express it in that manner," attorney Brook Hart told The A.P.

Tucker Chapman has not commented so far. Dog has apologized and is seeking help with black leaders. A&E is taking the matter very seriously. The network has suspended production of "Dog The Bounty Hunter" and may take further action once the dust settles. The show, which is one of the network's highest rated shows, has not been canceled.

DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER BUSTED IN N-WORD TIRADE

Duane Chapman aka "Dog the Bounty Hunter" is apologizing for repeatedly using the N-word during a phone conversation with his son. Chapman thought the discussion was private, but it was recorded and posted online. No word on who recorded it. During the conversation, he uses the N-word several times in reference to his son's African American girlfriend. He also expresses concern about the girlfriend going public about the TV star's use of the N-word. Chapman has issued an apology saying in part:

"I did not mean to add yet another slap in the face to an entire race of people who have brought so many gifts to this world...I am ashamed of myself and I pledge to do whatever I can to repair this damage I have caused...I know that all of my fans are deeply disappointed in me, as well, as I have tried to be a model for doing the right thing...I did not do the right thing this time, and hope you will forgive me."

Ripping a page from the book of Don Imus, Chapman says he's meeting his his spiritual advisor, who is black. He also hopes to meet with other black leaders. Could this be the end of Dog's A&E show?
