NEW COURT SHOW IS A FAKE!

If you haven't checked out America's Court with Judge Ross, don't bother. The new court show is fake. The show, which looks very real, premiered in September. It's the latest project from Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios and is presided over by real judge Kevin Ross. The judge is the only thing that's real on this show. The litigants are all paid actors. Don't believe it? Check out the disclaimer at the end of the show that says all characters are fictional. What a joke. The show presents itself to be real and looks like any other court show. Total scam. Who wants to watch actors? Why even use them? Doesn't this "judge" have better things to do than preside over fake cases? Stick to Judge Judy.

After so much real (ish) reality that is utter crap its kinda funny to see actors taking it back! This is just another phase of the blur between entertainment and reality. Reno 911 and every Christopher Guest movie are examples of reality that is heightened and interesting through interpretation presented as "real". Perhaps Judge Ross should be seen as a gifted improvisation artist as well as a legitimate judge. Your one critique is that its "fake" - sounds like a novel selling point to me

For example, if a person on the show says he works for a certain company, and then acts immature or irresponsible, that looks bad on the company he works for because they hired him, so with that disclaimer, the company that person works for cannot sue the show. The disclaimer started in 1932 when the russian princess sued MGM for a movie in which a character resembled her, so the show is very real

At 12:37 AM, hot grits said...: Before I had even read the disclaimer at the end of the show recently, I had been watching the show for several weeks and noticed that many of the cases seemed so rehearsed and scripted. Certain things the litigants would say didn't make sense and Ross would not question them about it. And, unlike other judge shows, they do not give you a phone number to call or website to visit if you have a case that you would like to have in front of Judge Ross. So, yes, the show is a total fraud.

At 3:19 PM, Crispy Critters said...: How disappointing :( A disgraced Judge who begins his show with his mantra about the concept of the law is to right a wrong - and even that is wrong. That is the concept of Justice. I guess the cost of a real former judge made the cost of a show using real litigants prohibitive? I've been on the People's Court two times, and I've received correspondence from Judge Alex and Judge Joe Brown so I know those shows use real litigants. You don't have to pay real people scale, and real people don't have to sign up with AFTRA for $1,500. The way the People's Court works, it's a win-win because even if you lose, you win. They pay the judgments. So sad that this Byron guy had to make up a show based on everybody else's concept.

As far as the Christopher Guest comment, his films are more of a caricature of segments of society such as local theatre, dog shows, folks singers. This is just an insult to our intelligence. At least with Operation Repo, you get to see cars falling off the truck like that BMW and you know it's fake because as angry as these people seem to get, they never talk down to Sonja who, lets face it, looks a bit bizarre for hanging in San Fernando Valley and LA. Even a family business presents itself more professionally.

I took America's Court off the DVR today. *sigh*

I watch the show when I am home which is not very often but I just thought the whole show was a carefully scripted Hollywood joke. The "litigants" are obviously wanna be actors (most of them stink as actors) and the judge gave me the creeps-calling himself "Boss Ross" and hamming it up. And now I hear that he has beendisbarred? Why is he even on TV? He is a scam artist and he show should be removed. They crow about being Emmy nominated.....

I would rather watch Judge Ross than hear Judge Judy yell all day and tell everyone she comes into contact with how much smarter she is than them. At the end of the show it says that the cases are fictional and if they are same as a real case it is a coincidence. Judge Ross was removed from the bench in California because, among other things, he was found to have violated people's rights. That is probably why he uses actors and fake stories because he isn't a real judge anymore.

I've been watching it on and off and often felt that the litigants were acting, but I chalked it up to maybe pre-show pep talks by the shows handlers. What tipped me off was this great looking blonde in the front row of the gallery. I had seen her on previous episodes in various chairs. On this last occasion however I had just finished watching Judge Judy and saw the same blonde. So then I went to the DVR where Ross' court was saved and there she was again. It's the same blonde. So I started thinking the gallery is staffed with a few 'extras' to guide the regular audience around, when to laugh, when to sit, when to stand, etc. So I checked out IMDB to see if the cast extended to more then the judge and the bailiff and show after show it always shows there are actors as litigants. The blonde is still a mystery, don't know who she is as extras aren't listed. Anyone know who she is? Blue eyes, Blonde hair, dark roots and eyebrows, Russian or eastern European look about her. 5'7" 115-122 lbs., give or take. Age 22-29. As seen on Judge Ross and Judge Judy shows in the audience.

I just looked at an episode wondering if it was legit,then researching to see if it was "real or fake". Found out from research its very fake, with a disbarred judge. What was interesting to me was at the end of the show they made an announcement something to the effect "....if you're coming to LA and have a legal case to adjudicate contact the show to have your case heard in America's Court". This statement is made KNOWING the show and judge is "fake as hell". That brings the misleading lie to the public
to "whole 'nother level" of ball-faced lying.
