Merv Griffin Dies

Legendary talk show host and game show creator Merv Griffin has died. Griffin died yesterday at 82 after a battle with prostate cancer. Griffin got his big break when he was asked to guest host The Jack Paar Show in 1962. From there, he went on to host The Merv Griffin Show from 1962-86. In 1963, he set up Merv Griffin Productions and created two of the biggest game shows in history: Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! Upon his death, he was estimated to be worth about $500 million dollars. Griffin's work will live on through his two game shows, plus a new game show, Merv Griffin's Crosswords, which launches in syndication in September.
