TIGER WOODS' PUBLIC APOLOGY
Friday, February 19, 2010
Tiger Woods is breaking his silence for the first time since he cheated on his wife over and over and over again. Woods held a live press conference in Florida this morning. He read from a prepared statement and took no questions. Here's some of what he had to say:
"I was unfaithful. I had affairs. I cheated. What I did was not acceptable."
"Parents used to point to be as a role model for their kids. I owe all those families a special apology."
"As Elin pointed out to me, my real apology to her will not come in the form of words; it will come from my behavior over time."
"Elin never hit me that night, or any other night," Woods said, his voice rising in anger. "There has never been an episode of domestic violence in our marriage."
To the media: "Leave my wife and kids alone."
Tiger's statement lasted just under 15 minutes. He said he's returning to therapy. He ended it by hugging his mother and some supporters.
Cudos to Elin for not attending. Enough of women standing by their cheating men.
