Rosie O'Donnell Leaves The View Early
Rosie O'Donnell has left The View early after a wild fight between her and Elisabeth Hasselbeck that aired live on Wednesday. O'Donnell was absent from the show on Thursday. On Friday, O'Donnell announced that she would not be returning to the ABC chatfest to finish up her contract, which ended on June 20.
Brian Frons, president of Disney-ABC's Daytime Television Group, issued a statement saying, "We had hoped that Rosie would be with us until the end of her contract three weeks from now, but Rosie has informed us that she would like an early leave. Therefore, we part ways, thank her for her tremendous contribution to 'The View' and wish her well."
Barbara Walters Also responded with a statement of her own: "I brought Rosie to the show. Rosie contributed to one of our most exciting and successful years at 'The View.' I am most appreciative. Our close and affectionate relationship will not change."
In her own statement, O'Donnell said, "It's been an amazing year and I love all three women."
Comedian Whoopi Goldberg and former TV news achor/Oprah's best friend Gayle King are two names being tossed around as replacements.
