COMEDIAN BERNIE MAC DIES

Comedian and actor Bernie Mac has died at 50 years old. His publicist confirms he died early Saturday morning from complications due to pneumonia. Mac had been hospitalized for about a week. Mac suffered from sarcoidosis, a rare autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in tissue, most often in the lungs.
Mac was best known for his comedy. He stared in the comedy documentary, "The Original Kings of Comedy." From there, his career catapulted. He stared in Fox's "The Bernie Mac Show" for several years. He also co-starred in the popular "Ocean's 11" films.
The Chicago native is survived by his wife, daughter and a granddaughter.
