Day One: Free Howard Stern
Wednesday, October 25, 2006
Howard Stern is going all out for the free two-day internet trial of Sirius Satellite Radio. Today's big show began with an appearance by Danny Bonaduce. The reality star discussed his show, "Breaking Bonaduce," saying he hates the show's therapist. He later shocked everyone in the room when he put a lit cigarette out on his tongue. Amazingly, Bonaduce said it didn't hurt. Next, The Simpson's co-creator Sam Simon debuted his radio sitcom, "The Bitter Half," which features the cast of the Stern show.
The big moment of the show came when The Who's guitarist, Pete Townshend, walked off the show. Howard was scheduled to interview him live from a recording studio in London, but Townshend got upset when the crew began talking about his child porn allegations. Howard said he wished Townshend would come back because he agreed to perform two songs. Fortunately, it wasn't a total loss. Howard got to speak with The Who founder and frontman Roger Daltrey, who happened to be hanging out with Townshend in the London studio. After much convincing, Daltrey sang for them.
